Put on your readers because here comes the fine print

People have been asking some really reasonable questions about going to a wedding at a softball field. The future Mr. and Mrs. Ayala have endeavored to address them:

What should we wear?

Put on something nice and comfortable! We’re dressing up, but this definitely isn’t a black tie event. We want you to feel awesome so you’ll have fun. You’ll want shoes that work for dancing to mariachi music in the grass. We’ll wind up the wedding at sunset, and at that point even if it’s a nice day, it’s likely to get chilly.

Where should we stay?

The wedding will be 10 minutes south of the downtown area and a good 20 minutes north of the airport. The only neighborhood hotel is the Georgetown Inn, which isn’t fancy at all but is totally fine. An Airbnb in Beacon Hill or Georgetown is a great option, too. Feel free to ask for help finding a spot.

Will there be kids there?

We hope so! We love kids! We love your kids! The washroom facilities are limited, unfortunately, but there’s a playground and plenty of running around space. Plus, weddings have cake, and kids (on balance) love cake!

What kind of hijinks can we get up to if we’re visiting from out of town?

Seattle’s a gorgeous city with plenty to do. We’ve put together a list of recommendations. Also, we’re gathering at 4 p.m. at Star Brass in Georgetown so visitors can meet each other and get the lay of the land.

Just exactly how do you throw a wedding on a softball field in a city park?

Amplified music and alcohol are not permitted, and the bathroom facilities are unpredictable. So we’re having a mariachi band, toasting discreetly, and instead of a sit-down dinner, we’re having tacos, snacks, and–of course–cake.

When and how do we let you know we’re coming?

Please, please let us know you’re coming! We’ll be so excited to see you, and we want to make sure we have plenty to eat and drink on hand. Some of you know that Liz avoids gluten and dairy, and while the groom’s cake will be quite traditional, there will be a gluten-free vegan cake. Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions, or need anything else at all to be comfortable.

We really, really, really want you to have fun!
